Last Day in Seattle

Aren't we Awesome! Look at those fit bodies with the packs!

This is it! Our final errands are complete, we're all packed up, and we're super stoked to get the show on the road. Everything is in place now. All we need to do is get our fat backsides on the plane. Wait, scratch that, I'm told that I'm the only one with a fat backside. So, one fat rear and one very nice, petite rear on the plane.

While the working stiffs were stuck in traffic on their way home from work, we went to a local Afghani restaurant to celebrate the recent change in our employment status. That's right! No work for 4 months. You know you're jealous. Admit it. Seriously, we don't have to work for another 4 months! We still haven't quite grasped the reality of it yet but....we're tryin'.

We'll fly to San Diego tomorrow. Will check into our hotel, cruise around town, and visit the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. I haven't been there since I graduated Basic Training in 1995. Will be fun to tour the post with Tori. Hopefully, we'll see a platoon of Marine recruits marching on the parade deck.

Found a pocket sized NIV New Testament today. It's the perfect size for a couple of ultralight backpackers. Oh, and I received some new shoes in the mail. A gentleman at Montrail sent two pairs of their Mountain Masochist shoes for me to wear on the PCT. I've been kicking around in one of the pair all day. They're so darned comfortable. Like wearing supportive, cushy pillows on my feet. Can't wait to use them on the trail.

Yesterday, we dropped off all of our resupply boxes to our friend Sarah at http://www.trailcooking.com/. She graciously accepted to serve as the REMF for our operation. She'll be in the rear with the gear, running logistics such as preparing dinners for shipments and fulfilling special equipment requests.

Our next post will be submitted by our friend Teresa of http://www.onepanwonders.com/ fame. She will receive our hand-written journals in the mail and transcribe them to the blog upon receipt. The posts will be delayed by several days but....whatever.

Tori and I have a bottle of Merlot to enjoy so....that's it for now. Many thanks out to our parents, other family, and friends. Your support has been an integral part of our planning. We wouldn't have been able to put this together on such short notice without you.

Love,

Tom & Tori Lindsley

  4. OK, seriously...you're both supposed to be that skinny when you complete the trail, not when you start it! Please don't whither away to nothing!! Skinniness aside, you guys do look pretty cool:).
Thinking of you on your first day!!! Love you!
