We're currently hanging out in Julian, WA. The Pie Town Gear store has solar showers, a bucket to wash clothes, and is close to good restaurants for grub and pie. A great place to hang out for the day chillin' with other hiker trash. Met up with Ryan from VA and Matt (CA) and Matt (TN). Matt x 2 have been hanging out in Julian for the past week. Poor Matt had his pack stolen from the back of the store. He's been working on gathering new gear in order to head back on the trail.
Trail Angel Mule Stomper stopped by the store. He reported just completing restocking of the 3rd gate cache with 110 gallons of water. Score! I think we can call that a reliable water cache. Thanks again Mule Stomper (as well as your posse) for hiking in all that water to 3rd gate. We know it isn't easy - but that water is best thing to come to after a long, dry climb.
The people of Julian are an interesting folk - there's definitely a small town vibe around this place. Everyone has been very friendly and we're already starting to feel like "townies". Ginger, the proprietor of the Cabbages and Kings/Pie Town Gear, is a hoot. We've decided to crash here for the night with Matt and Matt. Tom's ankle tendinitis is flaring up so he's got it elevated and is icing up as I write this. Hopefully we wil be able to head to the library tomorrow to post pics.
