May 6th, 2009 - Off to San Diego

Transcriber note: the first installment is here! They don't say who is writing. You can probably guess from the tone.

May 6

Up at 2:30am for a 6am plane to San Diego. That was tough but well worth it. Arrived in S.D. at around 11am. Enjoyed a swine flu free air travel experience.

Had 4 hours to kill until we could check in at the hotel. So we grabbed some chow at a Mongolian grill and toured around town.

The air is so fresh here and the temps are perfect at around 75*. It's a real treat coming from rainy Seattle.

As we toured around town, several people asked us about the "strange squishy things" attached to our packs. Turns out they had never seen a sleeping pad. Suppose we shouldn't be surprised but it was a little odd.

Walked to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot for a walk down memory lane and to expose Tori to the Marine Corps history. Toured the base museum and even saw some recruits get chewed out.

Later that night we went to Little Italy for dinner. Enjoyed a nice meal outside in the early evening sun.

Went back to hotel, showered and washed clothes in the sink. Was a really nice day without work or schedules.
