Today I woke up feeling stronger, but the quad was still tightening up with inclines. After being up in the mountains, we were headed back down into the desert.
After taking the trail which seemed to take the longest way down, we hit the desert floor and Hiker Town - yet another Trail Angel home.
We were surprised to find what looked to be a mini-Hollywood set in the large yard of a home right on the trail. With signs welcoming hikers, we made ourselves comfortable on the front lawn. I tried to nap with chickens, dogs & kittens running around, but to no avail.
Tom was able to borrow a car to run to the store down the road. He brought back fruit, soda and ice cream. Yum!
After relaxing several hours, we felt amazingly refreshed. We headed out on the next section - the usually dreaded LA Aqueduct. The Aqueduct is basically a huge underground pipe that runs for miles and miles through the hot desert without shade.
Luckily the temps were cooler than usual and we were hiking the first ~5 miles in the evening.
Spent the night sleeping on the Aqueduct. A bit unnerving sleeping right on the side of a a road with occassional cars driving by overnight, but overall quite comfy.
