June 13th - Gamble Springs Canyon to Mojave

We were excited to be heading to town once again. We were ready for real food (as opposed to what Tom calls squirrel food - ie: backpacking junk food) and hot showers.

With the end in sight, we cruised 13 miles without much trouble. Had fun testing our strength against the wind as we walked right by a wind farm.

We were surprised by a water cache and delicious fresh homemade peanut butter cookies left by an unnamed trail angel at the road. Took some time waiting for a hitch into Mojave since there was no cars drving toward Mojave on a Saturday. Luckily we were picked up by the first car to finally pass.

The rest of the day was spent doing town chores - finding a hotel, post office, shower, laundry, library and grocery store. It's a bit overwhelming coming off the trail - but hot food, a shower and a bed make it well worth it!
