July 9th 2009 - Dorothy Pass/Wolf Creek

Transcriber's note: More from Tom.

Damn! Another cold night. Had to ford a creek first thing this morning. Nothing like getting your feet wet in a snow melt creek at 6am. Shoes dried out after a few hours.

Can tell the terrain is starting to mellow out a bit. Dropped elevation for awhile then gradually climbed up to around 9,000. Big views and open terrain.

Some of the slopes on the descent to Sonora Pass had fairly large patches of snow remaining. Some had sketchy run-out that made Tori quite uncomfortable. A slip on some of them would've been fatal. So, our descent was very slow and deliberate.

Greeted by Meadow Mary at the pass. What a treat! She cooked up a pot of chili for us and gave us fruit and cookies to take with.

Had another short stretch of sketchy terrain after Sonora Pass. We thout that it was all behind us. Damn!

Found four $1 bills right on the trail. Talk about that later.
