July 12th, 2009 - Carson Pass to South Lake Tahoe

Transcriber's Note: Tom writing.

Slept great last night. Oh, turns out that the $4 we found belongs to a thru-hiker named "Not-Phil". This bit of information was told to us by another hiker.

Easy down hill hike today. Met Bruce Bowder about 7 miles from South Lake Tahoe. Bruce was hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail and he's a great guy to hike with. Full of stories and loves to hear others tell a story as well.

Bruce is from Bellingham, WA. Was fun chatting with a fellow Washingtonian for a bit. He offered to treat us to dinner the following evening and we gladly accepted.

At the trailhead we me the father of "Not Phil". Rich is his name. Great guy. He was there to surprise his sone. Unfortunately his son was a day behind us. He gave us a ride to town and gave us his phone number so that we could coordinate to a ride back to the trailhead.

Really great way to end a section of the PCT.
