Walked from the Motel 6 to the village and caught the first shuttle up to Red's Meadow. Had the bus to ourselves and enjoyed visiting with the bus driver up to the Ski Resort. He gave us the "local scoop" on living in Mammoth.
Enjoyed another breakfast at the Red's Meadow Restaurant. With full bellies we hit the trail once again. We were pleasantly surprised with the easy grade of trail and made good time. Enjoyed some lovely meadow traverses. Mosquitoes were bad on and off throughout the day, so we pushed to just below Donahue Pass in hopes of avoiding the bugs at higher elevations.
We found a lovely flat spot among alpine meadows, creeks, and rocks which made for a good night of sleeping.
