Got to sleep in once again! Woke up, packed up, and then went to the weekly Kennedy Meadows Sunday Pancake Breakfast. Once again, all the locals were there. We were starting to feel like a local too - seeing the same familiar faces. Had some delicious blueberry pancakes with the biggest, sweetest blueberries ever. Yum!
With full bellies, we got a ride with Tractor to the Kennedy Meadows Campground and the PCT trailhead. The hike started along a creek with beautiful open woods. Soon we came to a burn area with blackened trees, but a beautiful carpet of pinkish-purple flowers. It was peaceful and serene. Before we knew it, we made it to the Kern River near the Monache Meadows. Ran into a few hikers that had left the previous day and camped at the meadow. They were gettin a real late start at 3pm.
We kept heading uphill until we got hungry. Dined on some delicious Chicken Veggie Pasta made by Sarbar. Mmmmm! Sure was nice to have something other than mashed potatoes or Lipton rice.
Met up with Splinter and Aloe camped out at about Mile 728. Decided to call it a night there.
