August 15th - Saddle (mile 1821) to Annie Creek Trail

Hit the trail about 6:30am. We could wait to stuff our bellies at the all-you-can-eat restaurant at the Crater Lake Mazama Village Campground. Cruised the last 10 miles and made it to the campground about 10am. Went straight to the resturaunt. Found out lunch did not start until 11:30am.

Stalled the 1 1/2 hours by heading down to the store and completing our resupply. This was probably our most difficult resupply since we needed 6 days worth of food and the store had been cleaned out of the usual thru-hiking grub. Managed to make do though. Met up with Munchy and Hello Kitty and St. Rick for the first time. Beetle and Sunfish soon came in as well.

As soon as the restaurant opened we headed over. Filled our bellies with all kinds of deliciousness - pizza, BBQ chicken, pork, scalloped potatoes, french fries, salad, bread sticks and 2 helpings of ice cream and apple cobbler. Yum!

We were so stuffed we couldn't think about trying to hike. So we all took a nap in the sun. The plan was to nap for an hour and then continue on our hike. Well this led to that and we were talked into spending the night just 1/2 mile down the trail.

We had an enjoyable evening around the campfire, swapping trail stories and gossip with a little beer thrown in. Tom and I toasted up some gas station burritos on the fire. Worked like a charm and they were good.

It feels good to take a 1/2 day off and spend time hanging out with others. I think this is just what we needed to get out of our funk.
