August 16th - Annie Creek Trail to Thielson Creek

After staying up way past hiker midnight last night, we ended up sleeping in until 6am.

Felt sluggish walking uphill with very full packs - 6 days of food plus 7 liters of water each. Ugh! Finally reached Crater Lake Rim. Wow! Beautiful it twas! Enjoyed many views of the lake as the trail winded around part of the lake for about 4 miles.

Although we moved slowly in the morning, we drank a lot of our water and the trail sloped dowward - allowing us to make good time.

Ran into Squatch and S.O.L and Smooth near the Mt. Thielson Trail. They were thru hikers from last year and were now planning on summiting Mt. Thielson tomorrow. Squatch is working on a new video - this time highlighting "side trails" along the PCT. It was cool running into some "famous" people. And the best part - receiving some home-baked chocolate chip/butterscotch chip cookies from Smooth. Yum!
